No. Courses can be taken one at a time. Most of them work toward the CPBS® designation, so you can build toward certification gradually or focus on just the topics most relevant to your role.
You can register for the CPBS® final exam and Capstone project. You’ll have 30 days from registration to complete both. The final exam fee is $200, waived for PBIA members.
Yes. Buying all seven self-study courses together saves $500 compared to purchasing them individually.
Pharmacy Benefit Institute of America (PBIA) members save up to 25% on course tuition and have their CPBS® final exam fee waived, plus access to additional resources for continued professional development.
Most self-study courses offer continuing education credit toward state licenses, SHRM, and HRCI certification requirements.
It’s an optional eighth course. You don’t need it to earn CPBS® the first time, but every certificant must complete one ethics credit as part of recertification, and this course satisfies that requirement.
Self-Paced has no live sessions or fixed weekly schedule, you work through recorded course content on your own timeline, up to a year per course. Virtual runs on a set weekly cohort schedule with live instructor-led sessions. Both lead to the same CPBS® designation.
CPBS® recertification is required every two years and costs as low as $495. To renew, complete one self-study course and one ethics credit (the Ethics in Pharmacy Benefits Management course satisfies this) within your two-year cycle. You’ll receive an email notice 12 months before your certification expires.
